My wife, daughter, and I had been living in the west for quite some time. We knew that it was not a good fit for us professionally, mentally, or spiritually. So, we made the snap decision to move back to Georgia to be around a supportive team of friends and family.
Close friends of ours opened their home to us to live for a short time before we can get back up on our feet. Well, that short time turned into a longer period as the covid pandemic began to rise. Before I knew it, I was out of work and home with my daughter doing virtual learning.
My wife would say I am a traditionalist. I believe in taking care of my family and providing for them. Our set back started crushing me as I watched her get ready for work and head out 5 days a week. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the time I had with my daughter, but I needed to be at work.
I didn’t let the current crises stop me. I applied for every possible career within my wheelhouse hoping for some kind of offer.
My wife started telling me about Encompass Ministries and that they had a trainer on staff who would help me during my search. I have to be honest, I don’t know why I didn’t just jump on it. At that point I think I was holding on to the tiniest shred of pride I had left.
Day after day I received rejection e-mail after rejection e-mail. I couldn’t understand why no one was responding with interviews or job offers. Finally, I broke down and e-mailed Faith Moody at Encompass Ministries.
After corresponding with her I learned it wasn’t me! It was my resume! She was impressed with my job history. After tips and guidance I was able to update my resume and clean it up. Only a few days passed and I had an interview and then an actual job offer. Even better is that the job is exactly what I was looking for.
I am so grateful for the kindness and professionalism that Faith and the staff at Encompass Ministries showed to me. I knew guidance was a possibility. Maybe even a tip or two. What I wasn’t expecting was hope.
